Live Services for a Tech Startup Conference.

Plug and Play Alberta has built a platform for the province’s growing technology sector, propelling investment and innovation through a variety of programs and professional events. To celebrate their Batch 1 startups, Plug and Play held their first Expo Day in Calgary — featuring pitch-style presentations from top technology startups to showcase their tech and connect with industry experts.

Plug and Play partnered with Maven to provide a diverse set of live services for the event, including video recording, on-site interviews, and full audio-visual production.

Live event solutions

Designing an upscale audio-visual experience

To set the stage, Maven used LED spotlights that matched both the daylight in the venue and the windows behind the stage. We also provided a live sound package to ensure sound reach throughout the large lobby. This included 10 wireless microphones that could be handed off seamlessly between the presenters, allowing Plug and Play to run back-to-back panel presentations with no breaks to change over microphones

Live event recording IMAG

Our broadcast team captured the event with two 4K cameras, and produced a live-to-tape style recording that could be shared immediately after the event. Maven also ran a separate IMAG feed to enhance the live experience, while controlling the venues built-in LED screen and two large TV screens on either side of the stage.

Event B-roll

In addition to the live recording elements of the event, we provided a separate video crew to capture b-roll and interviews throughout the day. The client was able to use this separate set of footage to create an event highlight video and social media edits.

Attendees gave very positive feedback on the conference, demonstrating how high-quality live solutions can help amplify the sector-spanning impacts of organizations like Plug & Play.
