Helcim is a payments provider dedicated to helping small businesses thrive. Based in Calgary, Alberta, they offer an easy and affordable solution for accepting credit card payments, ensuring their clients save money while getting paid for their goods and services. Together, Helcim and Maven developed engaging video content to reach business owners who are searching for a better payment option.
The results: a scripted commercial that showcases Helcim’s business-friendly offerings and distinct brand identity, and set of b-roll.
Maven and Helcim collaborated throughout an extensive pre-production stage, refining the 30-second commercial script and developing a distinct visual style to represent the Helcim customer experience. This initial phase included location scouting, detailed storyboarding, and prop procurement.
Maven curated a collection of props to transform the commercial’s filming location — a local thrift store. Our in-house art team staged and dressed each shot, including a complex before-and-after transition from an understated clothing store to a vibrant Helcim-themed environment.
Maven filmed the commercial in a single day, including a mix of interior and exterior shots. The on-set team directed numerous actors and extras to capture the energy of a busy store, and oversaw intricate lighting setups to accommodate a variety of angles and stylistic shifts.
Our in-house editing team used the footage to create a polished commercial, leveraging a large cross-section of Maven’s post-production capabilities — including sound design, colour grading, and green screen compositing. After completing the full 30-second version of the ad, we further produced 15-second and 5-second variations to ensure Helcim could utilize it across the maximum number of platforms.
Maven delivered an eye-catching commercial for Helcim, which reached viewers via social and digital media channels. The video’s surreal concept and polished presentation captures the approachability of Helcim’s offerings, along with their team’s innovative spirit.
Following the main commercial, Maven also filmed custom b-roll for Helcim over several additional days and locations, including an office building, a dental clinic, and a showhome. Each location required a wide range of costumes, props, and lighting setups to maintain a consistent style across distinct filming environments
